I am blessed to live in the greatest city in the world. NYC is known by many as the “City That Never Sleeps”. Every hour on the hour you can ALWAYS find New Yorkers out on these busy neighborhood streets going about their business.
I have friends who work on Wall Street who start their day at 5am; and other friends in the entertainment/hospitality industry who are just getting to bed at that time. The specific time you start your morning isn’t as important as to, How You Start Your Morning. I created this blog because I firmly believe in the importance of dedicating the first part of our day to God. Most of my writings were created in my own morning devotions. During these times I strongly felt the Holy Spirit speak to me through his word, past experiences, praise and prayer.
The Bible tells us that “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” Jesus knew the importance of giving the first fruits of his day back to his Father. The scripture goes on to say that when his Disciples found him praying they immediately shouted at him, and said, “Everyone is looking for you!” Jesus responded by telling his followers that they need to go on a journey, and start preaching in outside villages. What transpires in the next few verses is astonishing. Immediately, Jesus begins to drive out demons and even cures a man with leprosy. In their own ignorance the disciples had no prior knowledge of all the adventures Jesus would take them on that day. Nonetheless they got to witness many incredible miracles simply because Jesus was intentional on spending time each day his Father. It was in his alone time that morning that God began to prepare him for everything that was coming.
All of us can plan our busy lives accordingly; however, each day will still bring about unexpected challenges and new opportunities. The Bible tells us in Proverbs that “Man plans his ways, but God directs our steps.”
I hope these blog posts encourage you to spend time each morning with the Holy Spirit. Allow God to speak to you through every season of life as he directs your steps each morning. I believe the calling on your life is great, and the mornings you spend with your Creator should be treasured and celebrated.
